Five simple steps to make a bouquet last
What florists do every morning — and you can do at home.

Most bouquets last 5–7 days, and some much longer with the right care. It all starts with clean water and freshly cut stems.
What we do in the studio
- Trim 1–2 cm off each stem at an angle with sharp scissors.
- Use a clean vase filled about halfway with cool water.
- Change the water every 1–2 days and remove leaves below the waterline.
- Keep away from direct sun, air-con drafts and ripening fruit.
Flowers that need extra love
Hydrangeas are very thirsty — if one droops, submerge the whole head in cool water for 30 minutes. Tulips keep growing in the vase, so trim them shorter.
